We're Going To Be At Rhinebeck West!

Save the date! Oct 17, 2026

We are so excited to announce our next destash event will be at Rhinebeck West this year at The Knitting Tree LA!  This is a one day event and time slots are limited, so book your time now while you can to get a same day payout.  If you can’t secure a spot, no worries.

We’ll still be accepting drop offs throughout the day (10AM - 5PM).  With drop offs, you simply leave your yarn with us, we tag it and give you a tag number, and we follow up in 7-10 days with your payment.

Wondering how a destash event works?  Allow me to explain!

What I'm accepting:

  • I'm accepting unused yarn (caked is fine!).
    • Having labels is preferred so I can price it accurately, but if the label is missing and you do not know what it is, it will still be accepted.  We’ll just have to price the yarn between $1-3 depending on fibers (meaning you get $.30 - $1.00 per unknown ball of yarn - just a heads up!)
    • Caked yarn will be sold at a discounted rate because we have to re-hank it.  If you are able to re-hank ahead of time, that is recommended.
  • Mini hanks are also accepted.

What I'm not accepting:

  • Partials or scrap yarn.  Please check the weight if possible.  We all accidentally swatch and forget (it happens!), but any partials will be accepted as donation only.
  • Yarn treated with moth balls
  • Yarn with pet fur/pet damage
  • Yarn with pest damage or signs of pest damage (moths, carpet beetles, etc).  If we see evidence of any pest damage, we unfortunately will not be able to accept any yarn from your destash.  Many people do not know they have pests, so if your yarn is not stored in plastic or air tight containers, please inspect for breakage, “woolly bear” larvae, moth eggs/droppings (they look like grains of sand), silverfish, or spiderweb-like cocoons ahead of your visit.
  • Yarn with an odor
  • Jumbo weight yarn or super bulky acrylic yarn
  • Yarn from the following brands (currently have an influx!)
    • Red Heart
    • Caron
    • I Love Yarn
    • Drops
    • YarnArt
    • Ice
    • Alize
    • Bernat
    • Premier

The appointment:

  • The average appointment takes around 30 minutes depending on the lot of yarn brought in.  To speed up your appointment, email a list of the yarn at least one day before your scheduled time (please include yarn name, yarn base, and quantity).  This will allow me to list and price everything ahead of time, reducing your appointment to 15ish minutes!
  • I understand that LA is not the easiest city to travel in.  If you are running late, there is a 10-minute grace period to prevent appointments from piling up.  If you miss that period, no worries!  We still accept drop-offs with payouts in 7-10 days.

The payment:

  • Payments will be sent via Zelle or Venmo.  Please have your Venmo or Zelle account ready.
  • If you want to speed up the process, feel free to email me your Venmo or Zelle account now and I'll make a note in your profile!

Lastly, if you want to calculate your potential payment, I have a little breakdown showing the average payment for one unit of yarn (not caked)!

  • Indie dyers (typically in the 30-34 range) - $7.20
  • Premium LYS brands (typically in the 24-28 range) - $5.40
  • Core LYS brands (typically in the 12-16 range) - $2.85
  • Household names (typically in the 4-8 range) - $1.05
  • Budget brands (typically in the 2-3 range) - $0.30

That feels like a ton of information, but of course if you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out!  We are always happy to help. info@shopfibermarket.com

We are so excited for this next event and hope to see you there!
